The story takes place in a re-imagined version of the Sengoku era of Japan. The story is about the wandering monk Tenkai, who used to be known as Mitsuhide Akechi, the former loyal general of Nobunaga Oda in his quest for revenge against Hideyoshi Toyotomi.

Plot[]

After the Incident of Honno-ji, the death of Lord Nobunaga Oda of Owari was blamed on Mitsuhide Akechi for betrayal by Hideyoshi Hashiba. A few months later, Mitsuhide was ambushed by Hideyoshi's army claiming the ambush was for revenge and had almost killed him. Expecting Mitsuhide to be dead, Hideyoshi left the battlefield and later changed his family name to Toyotomi after he took Nobunaga's place, but Mitsuhide had also left the battlefield and changed his name. While Hideyoshi became a warlord in place of Nobunaga, Mitsuhide had became the wandering monk known as Tenkai; both had became famous among the people in opposite ways, Hideyoshi had power as Tenkai had benevolence. As Tenkai travels around Japan, he finds a reason for why he should avenge the death of Nobunaga after meeting the ronin ninja, Goemon Ishikawa, and wanders to the capital of Edo but not before obtaining the seven armors that was spread through the land by Nobunaga given to his greatest rivals.

Seven Armors[]

Nobunaga Oda had given his seven greatest rivals pieces of his treaured armor, the Asura. The mask was given to the Tiger of Kai, Shingen Takeda, his mentor; the helmet was given to his friend, the Vagabond, Keiji Maeda; the left gauntlet was given to the War God, Kenshin Uesugi; the right gauntlet was given to his loyal retainer, the Devil, Katsuiie Shibata; the chestplate was given to a mercenary who hated him, the Crow, Magoichi Saika; the fauld was given to his former ninja, the master thief, Goemon Ishikawa; and the greaves were given to the youngest warlord, the One-Eyed Dragon, Masamune Date. The Asura armor is a mechanical armor that gives the wearer a certain power to control an element depending on the piece of armor, each piece of armor was given out to the people most deserving. The Sword of Asura was given to Mitsuhide, but it was stolen by Hideyoshi after his "death" in Yamazaki.
