Take Flight! Stargazer! is an anime that was written, directed, and created by Akira Jotaro who also created the anime Armored Arena, Rusty Sky, and Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Fate.
The story is set in a frontier named "Star Reacher" in year 2477 where Earth has become a wasteland so barren that any life on it would die within hours without the proper equipment. The story is about a smart high school student who became a pilot of a new machine called Stargazer when the frontier was attacked by an alien race named Varia.
Plot[]
In year 2077, the WES (World Energy System) had crashed due to an unforeseen accident where the people in charge of the WES had made a small mistake in their calculations that led to the WES's complete power drain. Due to the power drain, Earth had lost all its energy and some cities had been destroyed, but fortunately, a man named Professor Alex Justiv had predicted that one day the world would end like this, so he had created a giant space ship big enough to fit a city. In year 2078, Professor Justiv and many other scientists had started a plan called Project Heaven, which was a plan to create a small frontier big enough to fit over a million people, and later recreate the frontier for the remaining people of the world. In year 2099, Project Heaven was a success and had made a frontier bigger and faster than had planned, and as the frontier had been completed, copies of Professor Justiv's space ship had flew all the remaining people of Earth into the frontier and had the frontier named Star Reacher. In year 2225, a second frontier was created and was connected with Star Reacher, the second frontier was named Star Walker. In year 2470, an alien race called the Varia had attacked the two frontiers and had Star Walker almost destroyed, but fortunately, Justiv's descendent, Kai Harada, had created fighter planes that could fly in space and had them force the Varia to retreat, beginning a war with the Varia. In year 2477, a giant humanoid machine named Stargazer had just been finished being created but no one could pilot it correctly until a boy named Jack Lunas had put himself in Stargazer.

Jack Lunas[]
- A freshman in Reach Pilot Academy training for battle against the Varia. He is one of the smartest students in the school but he looks and acts like a slacker. He is the one and only person who could pilot Kai Harada's mecha, Stargazer. He is voiced by Mamoru Miyano.
Terra Welt[]
- A freshman in Reach Pilot Academy training to be support for the pilots. She is an average student who looks up to Jack and was surprised when she found out that he was a slacker. After Jack was given Stargazer, she became Jack's partner as Stargazer's supporter. It was shown that Terra actually has feelings for Jack. She is voiced by Saki Fujita.
Main Antagonist[]
Selina[]
- A woman who used to be a scientist but was fired for doing illegal experiments with corpses. She disguised herself as the assisstant of the President for 11 years working on her experiments in secret. She uses a special song to control the Varia race to do what she wants. Her goal was never revealed but it was shown that she needed the frontiers to be destroyed as part of her plan and had also turned herself into a mutant. She is voiced by Yuki Kaida.
