Plot summaryEdit

The series follows the adventures of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Cream and Cheese after they crash land in the Blue Typhoon in an unknown place. In Terrible Luck, they meet an inhabitant named Polly who often wants to help them before being taken in by Lerich. They all discover that he is a terrible man who is very cruel and intends to make them his slaves, of course this dosen't sit well with them, and by the end of the first issue, he vows to find them and kill them all. He makes it clear of it by following them through out the saga.

AllusionsEdit

  • The setting in the book Shipwrecked seems to make a refference to the video game Dark Cloud's shipwreck level.
  • The setting in The Final Call can be seen as similar to the bathouse from Spirited Away.
  • The setting in Spellbound seems be reminiscent of the Harry Potter series, although not thoroughly.
  • Also, in Shipwrecked, there is a scene where part of it includes a hook swinging towards Knuckles, and almost hitting him in the eye. This could refference the Sonic Archie Comics, where he lost an eye in the future stories.

CensorshipEdit

A number of things had to be cut from certain airings of the movie. There are several versions, so variations in edited and unedited scenes will occur.

ControversyEdit

Although this series has received praise for a better quality voice cast than more recent works, it has also been criticized for it's other contents. Some fans found it awfully bloody for a Sonic cartoon (when several characters were killed by a buzzsaw in The Final Call, though it's use of blood was only equal to Naruto's Cartoon Network edit.), as well as some usage of profanity (especially from Knuckles, who had at least something profane to say at least five times per issue) and sexual themes were present. Caterina Diff's combat outfit in the final book looking like that of Inuyasha's Yura of the Hair, which was a revealing costume to begin with. It was also noticeably darker in tone and story line compared to the most recent Sonic animation at the time, Sonic X.
